Our roots are deep in Iowa.

about us

Heart of Iowa Communications Cooperative is all about connections.

On February 19, 1958, the South Hardin Rural Telephone Cooperative (now known as Heart of Iowa Communications Cooperative) was established. The original companies that merged together to form South Hardin Rural Telephone Cooperative were Union Cooperative Telephone Company and New Providence Cooperative Telephone Company, and they provided telephone service in the area with the aid of operators and crank type telephones. From 1960 through the 2000s, the remainder of the Heart of Iowa Communications Cooperatives exchanges where acquired.

Over the years, Heart of Iowa Communications Cooperative has continued to evolve and prepare for the future.
